Tropic Thunder has had its review and it has received a few complaints over the constant word “Retard”. However; there is nothing retarded about the motion picture soundtrack and if we had to describe it in one short sentence, I would have to say that the soundtrack is war inspired.
Although Tropic Thunder is a modern day movie featuring some of Hollywood’s hottest stars, the music comes direct form the 60’s and 70’s. The song that stands out for me and adds weight to the Tropic Thunder Soundtrack has to be Edwin Starr’s War.
It was a sure bet that this song would feature on the motion picture soundtrack, if you have a movie that has a reference to Vietnam you have to hear War blaring from those speakers. Many might moan that it is cliché to overuse War in these kinds of movies, but it never tires for me.
Other great tracks on the soundtrack are The Temptations’ “Ball Of Confusion”, this song does fit the storyline of the movie perfectly. These have to be the best two songs from the soundtrack, the rest just seem to be lost with these two heavyweights.
