Watching the first Olympic 100-meter heat was like watching runners on auto pilot as Bolt, Powell and Gay made it easily through. Tyson Gay was running for the first time since his hamstring injury six weeks ago, he coasted to the finish in a time of 10.22.
The world record holder Usain also cruised to the finish line, along with fellow Jamaican Asafa Powell. The quarterfinals looks set to be a great one later on Friday; all three are expected to make it to the final on Saturday.
When asked after the race about his recent injury, Gay said βIt feels good, I felt a little sluggish the first round, but my body is woke up now.β
Watching the 100-meter dash is at the Beijing Olympics has got me all fired up, there is nothing better than watching these athletes pushing their bodies to the limits in the hope of crossing that finish line in the fastest time possible.
