Paula Patton’s performance in Mirrors is nothing special

Paula Patton stars in Mirrors a remake of a Korean movie called Into the Mirror, her performance in the movie is nothing special. She seems a little out of place in the movie, but I have to admit I was not too worried about her performance, there were a couple of other things on my mind.

Mirrors also stars Kiefer Sutherland who plays Ben Carson, he is a grizzled ex-cop who has been suspended from the NYPD for the shooting of an undercover detective. Sutherland seems to be on autopilot for this movie; his character is going through a bad patch in life and is pooping pills and knocking back the booze. The role is easy for Sutherland as he is able to draw on a lot of personal experience.

Ben has lost everything that is dear to him in life, his wife Amy played by Paula Patton as well as his children. Ben is living with his sister played by Amy Smart, she tries her best to pick the pieces up and put them back together in his life but things are not that easy.

Ben finally gets the break that he has been hoping for, as a security guard at the Mayflower, a once prestigious Manhattan department store. The stores have been left vacant since a terrible fire that spread through the building five years before. The fire killed several people.

It is not long before Ben notices strange things going on, the movie has mirrors attached to the ceilings it is these that are the focus of the movie. When Ben looks up and sees a fire in the Mirrors, he then feels the pain of the burning.
