Women’s Olympic Soccer Result: U.S. beat Canada 2-1

The U.S. Women’s Olympic Soccer team has beaten Canada 2-1; it took Natasha Kai 11 minutes in extra time taking the U.S. team into the semifinal. The game was a long one, as well as being delayed for two hours due to heavy rain.

The Americans who are defending the Gold medal controlled most of the game; they seemed to be all over the Canadian team. It was just a matter of time before the U.S. team took the win.

Angela Hucles helped the Americans take the early lead, but Christine Sinclair scored for Canada in the 30th minute of the game. Sinclair had another chance to win the game in the 78th minute, but American keeper Hope Solo managed to stop it. As you would expect Sinclair just could not believe it.

Canada has not beaten the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team for seven years; it is a bitter pill to swallow for Pellerud, Canada’s coach as he is stepping down after the Olympics. His contract officially ends in December. He has been with the Canadian national team for nine years now.
