Manager Fabio Capello has chosen John Terry for the second time as captain for the England Soccer team. Capello has tried out former captain David Beckham, Steven Gerrard before settling for Terry.
Chelsea’s Terry will take over as England captain on Wednesday at Wembley as they are to play a friendly with Czech Republic. This will be John Terry’s 45th international game with the England football team.
Many football pundits had expected Ferdinand to be given the role as captain as he has put in a solid performance, this helped Manchester United to the Premier League and Champions League titles.
Capello has been impressed how Terry has managed to get on with his game after missing the penalty kick which could have won Chelsea the Champions League.
Terry has the added advantage of working with his club regulars Joe Cole, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole, as they also play for England.
