We all knew that it was going to happen, but now CBS have officially announced that The Matrix star Laurence Fishburne is joining CSI. The Oscar-nominated actor is hoped to keep people interested in the crime TV show as main star William Petersen exits.
CBS has said “Fishburne will play a former pathologist who is now working as an itinerant college lecturer, teaching a course in criminalistics. His focus is on understanding criminal behavior, how and why people commit acts of violence — tendencies he disturbingly sees within himself. In the course of a murder investigation, he comes into contact with the CSI team and ultimately joins the Las Vegas Crime Lab as a Level-1 CSI.”
CBS had asked the executive producers of CSI, Carol Mendelsohn and Naren Shankar, who was at the top of their dream list for joining the show. They both said without hesitation that they wanted Laurence Fishburne.
Bringing Fishburne to the show is a great move from CSI Executives as he has a powerful yet calming voice, much like William Petersen. Fishburne said “I am elated and delighted to be joining the cast of CSI; I look forward to a wonderful collaboration with the creative and talented team of such a successful and distinguished show.”
I believe that CSI will never be the same without Petersen, I think that the show is about to start its decline which will eventually lead to the show being taken of CBS.
