Gary Glitter has now arrived back in Britain and will be met by at least 35 policemen. Glitter, real name Paul Francis Gadd had hoped to avoid entering Britain, but as no other country would allow him in he had no choice but to return home.
Police will escort Glitter from Heathrow and make him sign a sex offenders register, police will also apply for a sexual offenders prevention order from a magistrates’ court. This will restrict his movements in Britain and will ban him from approaching children.
Gary Glitter had finished his two year prison sentence in Vietnam, he was then thrown out of the country. He was in prison for abusing two girls aged 10 and 11.
Glitter attempted to fly from Vietnam to Bangkok, then to Hong Kong, and then back to Bangkok. Each of the countries refused him admission, he spent three days in Asian airports contemplating what to do next he had no other option left and had to return to Britain.
Gary Glitter has now demanded round the clock police protection as he fears for his life. This would cost the taxpayers £250,000 each year.
Should Glitter have ever been allowed back in Britain, the Home Secretary has now put our children at risk. As for us taxpayers footing a £250,000 tax bill, that could be money going to our armed forces.
