Helen Mirren is an Oscar-winning British actress who seems to be doing the best work of her life, so she must be feeling great about her life right now. However this was not the case when she was younger, Mirren has admitted to taking cocaine and marijuana. She stopped taking them when she learned that a Nazi war criminal profited from the trade.
In an interview with GQ magazine she said “I loved coke. I never did a lot, just a little bit at parties, But what ended it for me was when they caught (Nazi war criminal) Klaus Barbie, the Butcher of Lyon, in the early 80s. He was hiding in South America and living off the proceeds of being a cocaine baron.”
She said that her little sniff of cocaine had a direct route to that horrible man in South America. Helen Mirren also admitted to stealing during her youth.
She said “I needed to shoplift for food.” She added that while she enjoyed the accoutrements of movie star life, she still got those frugal instincts, cutting her own hair and wearing dollar-store glasses.
