Michael Phelps Announcement: Olympic hero starts swimming foundation

Olympic hero Michael Phelps has made an amazing announcement, he is to start a swimming foundation. Phelps used part of his $1 million bonus for tying Mark Spitz’s seven gold medals. He hopes that the money will be able to encourage the growth of swimming.

Michael earned the bonus from Speedo, as he tied with Spitz’s record, which he had held for 36 years. Phelps won eight gold medals at the Beijing Olympics last month.

Michael Phelps, 23, told Today Show host, Matt Lauer that he will travel to eight cities in the U.S., in the hope of trying to promote swimming. The announcement is not very clear, it is not known if Phelps plans to purchase North Baltimore Aquatic Club’s Meadowbrook pool.
