
Charlie Manuel, the manager of Philadelphia Phillies mother has died, she passed away this morning. He still plans to be in the dugout this afternoon for Game 2 of the NLCS. His mother June was 87, she died in Roanoke (Va.) Memorial Hospital after being admitted with a brief illness.
As yet there is no further as to the cause of death. Charlie Manuel found out about the death of his mother following a meeting with his staff before the game with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Manuel still watched batting practice from behind the cage, there was media waiting to have a word, but Charlie did not talk to them. The normal pregame conference was cancelled. Dodger’s slugger Manny Ramirez was one of those who offered his condolences to Manuel.
