Life on Mars TV Show: British show gets first American airing

I was a big fan of the British version of Life on Mars; the TV show was pure genius with Gene Hunt playing the best character. This is just the latest British TV show to cross the Atlantic, as the U.S. version had its first airing last night.

When the American’s got their hands on the show you already knew what they would do with the show. The cars are bigger, New York streets look meaner than Manchester, but one thing remained, side-burns and rough police.

The American version of Life on Mars does have two good things going for it, a big budget and the acting weight of Harvey Keitel. Let us hope that the show will stay true to the British version. If you have seen both version, then let us know what your thought were on the new American version.

    Hi,
I don`nt know how the American adaptation was as I have never seen it. Speaking from a purly British, Welsh really as the original series was made here when no one else would buy it, welcome.
I hope you realise that this series is addictive and hope it gives you as much pleasure as the original series.
Let me know how it is progressing State side, I will not give any plots away just let you enyoy the series.

I loved the Brit version of the show and looked forward to the US version only so my friends would see this great storytelling. I’ve now seen approx. 4 eps now and am let down. Sam and Genes dynamic is just not there and Keitel’s Gene just comes off as smug with no comedy to him. These characters growing on each other and why are crucial to the show and its story arc and conclusion. If this isn’t fixed I’ll have to order the Brit series on dvd so I can show my friends I’m not an idiot.
