Tim Montgomery, the disgraced former 100-meter world record holder has received a five year prison sentence. The former athlete was given the sentence on Friday for his distributing heroin last year.
The five-year sentence is mandatory and is to be served on top of a four-year prison term that Montgomery received in New York for his role in a checking fraud conspiracy.
The disgraced athlete pleaded guilty last year to the charge of heroin distribution. He apologized to the judge as well as his family, which included his son Tim. Montgomery had sold 111 grams of heroin to an undercover informant for the sum of $8,500; the informant recorded the meeting for the federal authorities.
