Iron Man 2 has not started filming yet and already they have lost Terrence Howard, who was Tony Stark’s friend. Don Cheadle has now been signed up to play Jim Rhodes, who we know will eventually become War Machine.
As yet there is no comment from Marvel, but sources say that negotiation with Howard collapsed over financial differences, as well as other reasons. Marvels are not going to lose any sleep over this, as they had wanted to work with Cheadle.
With Don Cheadle, they are now working on taking the role in a different direction. Jim Rhodes is thought to be playing a larger part in the Iron Man sequel, which is great news as Cheadle is a superb actor. Iron Man 2 is scheduled for release on May 7, 2010.
