So many people are still trying to understand why Turner Gill was passed up for the job as Auburn Universtiy head coach. Gene Chizik has been given the job, even though we know that Gill is far more qualified to run the football team.
There is a horrible rumor going round that the reason that Gill did not get the job is because he is black, and that his wife is white. ESPN.com football writer Mark Schlabach told “Outside The Lines” that two other SEC coaches told him, that Gill would never get the Auburn job, because he’s married to a white woman. Charming.
Hearing something like that is as if we have gone back 50 years, what does it matter that Turner Gill is African-American, and that he is married to a white woman. If this is true, then something should be done, as not getting a job for this reason is not right.
