Majel Barrett Roddenberry widow of “Star Trek” creator Gene dies


The widow of “Star Trek” creator Gene Roddenberry, Majel Barrett Roddenberry has died today of leukemia at the age of 76. Majel was the voice of the USS Enterprise computer; the actress also played Nurse Christine Chapel in the original “Star Trek” series, she also played Deana Troy’s mother on STNG.

Sean Rossall, a spokesman for the family had said that Roddenberry had died in her home in Bel Air. Rossall also stated that her son Eugene and her friends were also at her side when she sadly passed away.

Majel Roddenberry is also reprising her role as the ships computer in the new Star trek movie, which is being directed by J.J. Abrams. After her husband had died in 1991, Majel Barrett was the executive producer for two other science fiction TV series, Andromeda” and “Earth: Final Conflict.”
