I was sad to learn that my favorite TV entertainer as a child, Tony Hart had died, in my eyes he was a legend. He inspired millions of children to take up art; he was aged 83 when he sadly passed away. Tony Hart was most famous for his show Take Hart and Vision On for almost 50 years, he retired back in 2001.
Tony helped to bring a bit of fun in to art with the introduction of Morph, who was a Plasticine character. Morph was a play character who delighted millions of children while on school holidays, including me.
Fans on Facebook paid tributes to Tony yesterday; fellow artists have also paid their respects, including Rolf Harris. He said that Tony was “a very gentle and talented guy”. Tony Hart was an inspirational man, how did he affect your life?

I agree, he was a true gent and a real inspiration throughout my childhood. I’ve always enjoyed sketching and creating and I’d attribute at least part of that to Tony Hart’s wonderful enthusiasm. Unfortunately I’d completely missed the news of his death, though I was sad to hear that near the end he’d lost the use of his hands. A truly great man who’ll be remembered by many.
I enjoyed watching my favorite youtube clip where he used a paint-roller to draw on a huge area of concrete outside a school (his trademark). When asked, he comments about marking out in advance what you’ll draw. He says he NEVER does it, because you’ll be looking at where the marks instead of expressing yourself.
