
We will found out later today who the nominees for the 81st Academy Awards, the Oscar shortlist will be announced in Beverly Hills. British film Slumdog Millionaire looks set to be one of the frontrunners up for an award, following on from the films recent success at the Golden Globes.
Brit Kate Winslet is also tipped to be on the shortlist, along with Brad Pitt, Meryl Streep and Sean Penn. Forest Whitaker will unveil the nominations at 0530 Los Angeles time, which is 1330 GMT.
Slumdog Millionaire is set in Mumbai, Danny Boyle directed the movie, he won the best actor category at the Golden Globes, the film received 11 Bafta nominations. We will also get to find out if Heath Ledger will receive a posthumous supporting actor nomination, for his portrayal of Joker in Batman, The Dark Knight.
