American Idol’s Camile Velasco has been honored for Single of the year at the 12th annual Hawaii Music Awards; she is being awarding the prize for her rendition of Bob Marley’s classic, Guava Jelly. Velasco collaborated with Stephen Marley, the son of Bob Marley.
The single was recorded in Kingston, Jamaica at Bob Marley’s original home recording studio. Camile said that she could not be prouder in receiving this honor from her home state. She told PR.com that she feels humbled and thankful.
Camile went on to say that recording with Stephen Marley would have been honor enough, but recording the single at Jamaica at Bob Marley’s original home studio was certainly a life changing experience.
