Whenever William Shatner is interviewed, he always has a wonderful insight into his various projects, but it is a different matter when asked about J.J. Abrams new Star Trek movie. The original Captain Kirk offers no opinion, this probably has something to do with the fact that he was not asked to be part of the new project.

Victoria Recano from The Insider was interviewing Shatner, he told Recano that he does not know anything about the project. He added, “It’s peculiar, and I’m sad about it, but that’s the way they did it, so I know nothing about it.”

William Shatner also discusses about his close friend Leonard Nimoy, who is in the new Star trek movie, he said that he is happy for his friend. He did say in the interview that Nimoy would not tell him anything about the new movie.

The reason William Shatner was not included in this movie is that they found that his EGO wouldn’t fit on the IMAX versions of the film. He was great in the 1960s and 1970s reruns, acceptable in the (even numbered) movies, but it is time for him to move on. All Star Trek fans already have.

I don’t feel Leonard Nimoy belonged in the movie either. I was hyped up about the movie trailer, but when I saw Leonard on there, I told myself “Oh…I can’t believe they put him in there”. I was disappointed..however I still thoroughly enjoyed the movie *****
