American Idol 2009: Rat Pack Night

Tonight was one of the best nights on American Idol 2009 as it was Rat Pack night, which I absolutely love. We are now down to the final five which means that things are about to get much more interesting. Each week our young hopefuls have a mentor, this week it was the talents of Jamie Foxx who was guiding them.
Associated Content reports that American Idol producers normally do a great job but I have to say the five remaining hopefuls did not take to Rat Pack night, which is a bit of a shame, but this always happens at least once or twice in a season.
You would have thought that with the talents of Oscar-winning vocal coach Jamie Foxx, the young hopefuls would have made more of an effort. Adam Lambert had his shot at “Feeling Good,” which was a classic from Sammy Davis, Jr. Lambert got a mixed reaction from the judges.

Not sure about the mix review. It didn’t come across as that way to me. Adam was great tonight. The best of the lot! He has style, voice and persona. What else would you look for in an idol. I hope America votes for him.
I thought Matt was bad last night, but SIMON gave his blessing on him, which means he will be OK tonight. I agreed with Randy about him, he was very pitchy, not very good at all. And Simon thought it was the BEST !! WTF ?? Because of that blunder by Simon, you can say goodbye to the very talented Allison !!
THANKS SIMON (idiot), does he owe a favor or something with Matt ??
My favourite is Chris. He is humble quiet and amazingly gifted. I can’t stand Adam, doesn’t anyone notice that he sings way off key a lot of the time? It isn’t beause he is gay because I like many artist who are of other persuasions like Will Young. I don’t mind if any of them win, even smug looking Danny but not Adam.
I totally disagree with Vandamn, Adam is by far the best of the group not only can he sing but he is amazing all round entertainer is different every week he is awesome and should definately win….. OFF KEY who or what are you listening too buddy… Go ADAM go…
Danny (LOVE his smokey, romantic voice), Adam (obviously talented but getting a litle tired of his shrieking during every song) & Kris (lovely down to earth) should be fine for this round – if not, I’ll be Shocked! It’s between Matt & Allison for sure. Allison is absolutely great for her age but she sounds the same in every song. Matt, sorry to say, wasn’t on key in places during his song. I think Simon’s just mixing it up a bit saying Matt was ‘brilliant’ – he obviously wasn’t (nothing against Matt for me personally). I’m surprised Simon could say that with a straight face – he looked uncomfortable even saying that about Matt. It’s about survival of the fittest now & sorry to say I believe it will be Matt sent home tonight…& oh for gosh sakes….why do they make the person sing ‘after’ they’ve been booted off…it’s so humiliating!!!!
Matt needs to go home. Adam and Allison all the way to the top! Kris and Danny are ok.
Loved Kris’ performance last night. Wasn’t sure about Danny at first, but he really pulled a good one last night. I’m with JLa – enough of Adam’s shreiking, although it certainly added some drama to last night’s performance. Allison is amazing and has a huge voice & talent to do more. But Matt, sorry to say, didn’t quite get there last night. Nice costume for the ‘rat pack’ songs, but it wasn’t enough distraction for the sub-par vocals. I think he’ll be the next to go. Maybe Simon was trying to save a little face since his was the deciding vote to keep him. It will be close between Matt and Allison (sorry to say, as I’d like to hear and see more of her).
i think matt and allison will be the bottom two….hopefully matt will be going home…and i hope at the end….it will be between allison and adam….
