2009: Dancing With the Stars vs American Idol, watched most
Two of the most popular shows of 2009 so far are Dancing with the Stars and American Idol, both shows are very different but both manage to keep us entertained week on week. If you were asked which your favorite show of the two is, some might have a hard time choosing.

2009: Dancing With the Stars vs American Idol, watched most

Dancing with the Stars does not look for new stars as American Idol does; instead, it is those who are already celebrities that appear on the show. Well there are only some that I would call a celebrity. The celebrities have to learn ballroom dancing in a short amount of time, but they get help as they are partnered with a professional dancer.

American Idol is very different, as it looks for new talent. The idea of the show is to take someone who is not known but has a dream of becoming a singer. They are also mentored by a series of singing stars throughout the series.

Personally, American Idol should be taken off of TV for at least a year. The judges always say the same thing, the past two or three years, the talent (if you want to call it that) has been terrible. American Idol should be revamped, judges (all) should be replaced. The guest talent stars (if you want to call them that) know nothing about the individual. How can you judge someone who can sing R&R but can’t sing a slow song against someone who can’t since R&R but can sing a song in which you can understand the words. TV is stuck in a rut, too much of the same thing – CSI??????? and supid sitcoms who act like they don’t have a brain in their head.

I’ve been a fan of both shows since day one. Never missed a show. But it’s time for American Idol to go or take a break for a year and revamp. Instead of looking for talent, it’s a race for who can make the biggest fool of themselves at the beginning of the season. A little goes a long way, and we’ve had more than enough. The only reason I didn’t drop the show a couple of years ago is because of Simon. He seems to be the only one still interested in finding talent.
