
I have been a fan of Michael J. Fox for years and was very sad when I heard the news that he had Parkinson’s disease. Some people would give up when they get something like this, but not Fox, he has so much fight in him for such a small person. He launched the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research and has being doing some great things with it, but now we learn that the foundation has offered new funding.
PR Newswire reports that the MJFF have announced a funding commitment of $2 million for Biomarkers 2009. This is now the fourth round of biomarker funding by the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which aims to continue stimulating discovery of new disease.
MJFF has been a leader in the field in the development of PD biomarkers for a number of years now. It is estimated that MJFF has invested at least $9 million; this has resulted in the emergence of several lead biomarker candidates.
