Joan Rivers Wins Celebrity Apprentice 2009: Was she the right one?
As we reported in a previous post, Joan Rivers won Celebrity Apprentice 2009, but many people are left wondering if she was the right one to win the show. Donald trump hired Rivers, while the other finalist, Annie Duke was fired.

Joan Rivers Wins Celebrity Apprentice 2009: Was she the right one?

The comedian won $250,000 for her charity, God’s Love We Deliver. Even if you were not happy about the outcome, at least a charity benefitted from the outcome. A number of our readers had commented on how much they hated Joan prior to the show.

Now that the show is finally over, Rivers has made some new fans while losing others. The thing with Joan is, she is not fake you know what you get. For people to moan that she is foul mouthed, well we have known that for years and that it what makes her fun to watch.

Did you know the shows advertising is probably illegal? (unless deamed ‘scripted’) http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/cfr_2007/octqtr/pdf/47cfr73.1216.pdf

    Vice Chair – Blaine Trump

Also, trump even admitted that his friend runs piers morgans charity from last year. let trump have his scripted show, losing most viewers that enjoy the lost intellectual aspects, but he should not legally be allowed to advertise it as a competition. it was completely obvious to anyone that doesnt lie to themselves it was fixed. joan in t final 4, laughable. when j.james was eliminated it was obvious what was going on. I am not an A. Duke fan, she says me me me a LOT, but she absolutely beat the crap out of joan who never did anything that applies to the competition until they started changing the rules for her.

    everyone go here:

submit the form, make him change his advertising, jerry springer has more authenticity.

    We love you Joan!!!!!
    Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh come on people, get over it. A lot of money was raised for charity. There has to be a winner and a loser. I say congrats to Joan!!! I think money raised for charity should be given with charity.
Not strong-armed from your poker buddies, etc. Play with integrity. Annie gave charity a bad name and totally missed the point.

Trump made the wrong choice. Joan was thoroughly outplayed and embarassingly unprofessional. I know this show is all about entertainment, but when you fail to reflect the premise of the show to choose the best business candidate, you lose what little credibility you may have had. I’m done watching. What a joke. Trump looks worse then usual on this one.

The show is a joke. There is no way that should of Joan of won. Her behavior in the boardroom was horrible. She QUIT during the show. Doesn’t Trump usually fire people who quit? The show was a complete and utter waste of time. The most deserving did not win and Trump shows obvious bias towards his friends during the show.

Absolutely she should have won. She was fabulous. She made the show worth watching. The beauty is that the no holds barred, straight talker, in your face person won over the smarmy, schmoozer. She was an integral part of her charity, serving, visiting, etc, while Annie seemed to pick one from a list with no involvment whatsoever. Joan might be emotional but she is real…plastic surgery aside, while Annie would gut you while smiling that sticky sweet smile to your face. Way to go Joan!

The show was either rigged or Trump was in a panic fearing Joan would melt down in front of a national audience. Rivers didn\’t deserve to be in the finals. The joke around our offices is whether someone will pull a Joan Rivers in a meeting. Annie Duke was the strongest of the two. I also would have liked to see Jesse in the final, but Trump has personal and business connections to Joan Rivers. THE SHOW JUMPED THE SHARK LAST NIGHT. It\’s done. Started out as the semi-MBA of primetime. Now, it\’s a pathetic joke of a competition. Even the emphasis on fund raising versus true marketing makes it less of a real \”apprentice\” program. But for me, Joan Rivers winning was the final straw.

Should look up the word apprentice in the dictionary. Annie, You fit the discription.
Ani worked the hardest and raised more money. So, what was Trump looking for? Someone who has the energy to be able to call people all sorts of names? Someone who almost quit? I have lost trust in apprentice. Should change the name to Charity. By the way, Annie, your jingle was enough to make you a winner.

WHAT A JOKE! I only watched to see the old raisin Joan get put in her place… Guest the tacky raisins like to stick together! Ugh! Donald and Joan both give me the worst taste in my mouth and I’ll never waist a moment of my time on either of them again!

However, I am a new fan of Annie and in a fair world she would have won!

  • http://InEntertainment Jay

Oh come on… Give Joan the credit for doing what the purpose of the game is for. CHARITY!!! The only reason why Annie raised the most money is because she pulled it from a pool of people who do nothing but gamble for a living. I bet you don\’t see those same group giving money to charity on a regular bases. Come on folks… can\’t you see the bigger picture…Those guys turn this into another gambling bet on the final two and all bets were on Annie. Hence the big so call donations.

annie should have won come on she raised more money, stayed calm and cool like a real champ.joan was very un professional, threatening to leave when her cry baby daughter got fired should have fired both of them.annie you rock

This final episode of the celebrity apprentice was nothing short of nauseating! They took advantage of Annie in such a gross way and pretend that the witch that is Joan Rivers was a moral role model! OMG, JR couldn’t be further from a role model. And her morality, if indeed she has any, was definitely in remission during this show. She appeared to be a jealous hearted old bitty, spewing nothing but hate towards Annie and the blonde.

Putting her totally negative disposition aside for the moment, no rational person would conclude that she won this competition; certainly not based on the rules that were articulated. On the other hand, Annie excelled throughout the competition and CLEARLY won. Yes, she too was obnoxious in her blatant and excessive claims that any success her team experienced was all her. Despite this and despite her obsession with how awful she felt JR was, she still behaved far more professionally than Joan. Joan behaved like an unstable jealous hearted lunatic. Yes, JR did seem display stamina, but it seemingly was fueled by hate.

And the Donald, uggh, what an obnoxious character he is! Does he think he can pull the wool over all American eyes and fool us into thinking that his firings are nothing more than an egomanias desires to control others and manipulate ratings and of course to instigate as much unrest and bitterness as he possibly can between the contestants? I couldn’t imagine why any celebrity (or any other rationale person) would subject themselves to be abused by this vile character, for his profit. Too bad the Donald doesn’t seem to get how bad he himself looks as he’s trying to reveal the worst possible in others. Or maybe he does see it and just doesn’t care, as long as he’s making bank. And poor Donald, Jr., he looks like a used car salesman, trying hard to look smart. But he fails pretty miserably. Although, I’m sure it’s not his fault. I would suspect growing up as Donald, Jr. was no easy feat. The only person in the family who comes off consistently as elegant and knowledgeable is the daughter, Ivanka. She’s beautiful, poised and intelligent. But I warn her, don’t hang in this role too long, or you risk becoming only a caricature of a poised and intelligent young woman, and may fail to live up to your full potential, e.g. Jackie-O vs. Marilyn Munster.

So, Mr. Munster I mean Mr. Trump, don’t think for a minute, that we couldn’t clearly see through your little, charade that you dubbed a competition. But, don’t think I failed to see how much good was done for various charities; the only saving grace of this whole gigantic charade. But why does it have to be accomplished in such a brass and undignified way. What’s the word, oh yeah, nauseating. Then just when I feel my stomach has settled again, that zombie creature, Joan Rivers shows up on TV saying how ethically she won, and yeah, the vomit begins to rise again. Donald you and Joan are perfectly matched. I’m sure you must have promised her she would win, possibly to get her back. The only little anxiety she might have had in that final board room was the fear that you might go back on your word on live TV. Ya know, for ratings.

DONALD . . . YOU ARE AN IDIOT!! ADVOCATING JOAN’S GAME PLAN/BEHAVIOR?!! YOUR SHOW WAS GOOD UNTIL YOU BLEW IT …. ONCE AGAIN. GO DEFEND SOME BLOND BIMBO FROM HER CROWN. SOMETHING ELSE THAT IS SOO NOT NEWSWORTHY!!!

  • Erin

This show just lost all respect from me, and I used to be a huge fan. What a shame. I thought it was about winning money for charity, not backstabbing ugliness. Annie, kudos, I hope that they pulled you aside last night and slipped you the $250,000 you earned. I can’t believe Trump let Joan claim she didn’t cause the event planners to quit, and then HIRED her. She and Melissa were an embarassment to the show. NBC, you just lost a loyal fan. By the way, if you didn’t actually WATCH the show, as you must to be a Joan supporter, go back and see some of her melt-downs. I have never seen someone with so little respect for other people.

  • Jenn

Too much drama is included with Joan. Even if she is innovative, it’s still hard to focus when you have drama working in the office. If I was to hire her, the first talk I would have with her is: bring your knowledge and creativness, but leave the drama baggage at the door.
