Are you happy with who won Biggest Loser Season 7?
The Biggest Loser for season 7 was Helen Phillips, but there are a number of people who are not happy with this outcome, but why is that. Are you happy with who won The Biggest Loser: Couples, I know that Newsday are not.

They believe that Tara Costa was the real winner; they say that it is “Not right. Not fair. Not reasonable. Not good.” They think that Tara won the show in every way shape or form, but as she did not have the biggest weight loss percentage, Helen took the win.

We all have our own views on this and it is not nice to take this win away from Helen, she like most of the other contestants achieved something that most of us only dream of, in my book, they are all winners.

Are you happy with the Biggest Loser Season 7 winner?

I think Tara should have won… I mean any weight lose is awesome and a big accomplishment, theres no doubt about who the real winner was…

  2. cat says:

It was all about the $$$ with Helen! She is the most selfish uncaring mother ( & I use that term loosely) I have ever seen!!!
She only cared about the $$$, Look at what she did to her own daughter Shannon! Its a dame shame a LOSER like Helen won. She was in this for all the wrong reasons… Watch out Helen, what goes around, comes around, and you will get yours. I wouldn”t be a bit srprized if a year from now we find out she is divorced & alinated from her entire family…. because she wanted ALL that prize money to her self…. UGLY is , as UGLY does …. and Helen you are Dam UGLY on the inside & it shows

  3. Cheyenne says:

I think Mike should have won he just like everyone else (except for Helen) worked their butts off. Helen just looks like she stopped eating a week before the finale. And I agree with cat about what she did to her own daughter, if she was a real mom she would have put her daughter’s life and health before her own because Shannon still hasn’t really lost much weight and clearly her mom isn’t helping her. I think what Mike went through at his age and how he came out looking amazing is so awesome. I’m bummed that Tara didn’t win either, but she is once again completely gorgeous and can go back into modeling and be the amazing woman she is because she never gives up.

  4. Kate says:

I agree, Helen is so selfish! And I really think that she got too thin for the finale! She looked extremely sickly, her face was so thin. She looked so different from the weigh-in on the previous episode (she weighed in the 140s then, and dropped to only 117 pounds in the finale). I wouldn’t be surprised if she was quite unhealthy trying to lose weight in the final weeks!

  5. lfergy says:

In response to Cat I hear part of what you are saying I never could figure out why helen let her daughter leave the show. Maybe her daughter really didnt wanna stay. As far as winning she did do a great job for a 48 year old woman thats insane to accomplish what she whatever her motivation shes a force to reckon with. Tara never lost a competition its kind of sad she didnt win but rules are rules I cant wait for the next season however the two potentials for next season did really look that interesting to me.

  6. Lynn says:

Oh, please, grow up people. Yes, Tara won the most challenges and was a deserving finalist as was Mike, but the way they do it is the percentage of body weight and Helen won that. All 3 of them were great contestants, played a great game, and were very deserving of the grand prize. I’m happy for Helen and I’m happy for Tara and Mike. They are all leading healthier, happier lives. My hats off to Jillian and Bob, their trainers. They did great jobs with them.

  7. anne says:

i agree with cat!! rock on!! she is selfish!!

  8. Amaryllis612 says:

I would have been happy if any of the three had won. They all worked very hard. The minute I saw Helen I knew she had it in the bag; she was hugely underweight and gaunt looking (117 pounds on a 5′6″ woman is a BMI of 18.9 — not what I’d call a healthy weight), while Tara and Mike both looked like they’d reached a normal weight.

I don’t pretend to know the motivation of the contestants. It’s a TV show, and these people only show the public what they want to share. I sure wouldn’t insult them. If you’d like another scenario as to why Helen went to such lengths to win — it’s possible that Helen stayed on the show because she knew she had the drive to win, and her daughter didn’t. It’s possible that Helen tried so hard because she really NEEDS the money. She’s a houewife, and her husband works for Chrysler — which is now in bankruptcy. Maybe she threw all those tractor tires to prevent having her family from winding up on the street — $250K (minus taxes) is a nice little safety cushion in this economy.

Honestly, you can’t know what’s inside the heart of people you only know on TV. You might think you know them, but you don’t. It’s cowardly to sit behind an anonymous moniker and hurl insults at people you don’t know — calling them “ugly on the inside”, and making assumptions that probably aren’t true.

BTW, congrats to the two runners up Tara and Mike. They really did a great job, and even though they didn’t win the prize money, they looked a whole lot healthier than Helen did at the finale.

My hope is that Tara and Mike maintain their weight loss and Helen gains around 10 pounds and then maintains that as her final weight.

Everyone deserves to be healthy and happy. After all the work this season’s contestants put into the process I hope they all maintain their weight — and in the case of those who are still a work in progress — I hope they achieve their goals!

Good job, and good luck to all!

  9. Judi says:

Calm down Cat… Helen never said anything about the money. She lost weight week after week consistently. And the bottom line is she lost the most percentage wise. THAT’s THE RULES! All of the contestants won. They all lost weight and are changing bad habits, making them good!

  10. Karen says:

Lynn: Even grown ups are entitled to their opinion even if you don’t agree with it.

I totally agree with Kate. Helen looked downright gaunt and sickly and I would not be surprised if she took drastic measures just to insure a win. Of course, we’ll never know for sure about her methods but I don’t think she looked good at all. Tara looked so much healthier she was almost beaming. Even though she isn’t the official winner, she’s a winner in my book!

  11. Gab says:

I really think that Mike should have won. He was the nicest player this whole season and unlike his dad was completely honest the whole time. He should have won he deserved it.

  12. Amy says:

I thought Helen looked just terrible at 117 pounds. Her skin just hung off her bones and she looked 20 years older than she did in the last episode. What happened to her?

  13. Sibbie says:

I think the part that really bothered me about the show was that every contestant got to celebrate their weight loss on the scale for a moment besides Tara. As soon as it wasn’t enough its like hey “Helen won, who’s Tara?”

I personally was rooting for Tara and have found her inspirational for myself. Her drive is my new motivation.

    I wish her the best.

  14. Denise says:

Look people- if you have watched the show since the beginning of the season, then you know that Helen’s daughter didn’t WANT to be there. She even said it the week before she was eliminated. She didn’t have the drive or desire! And because Helen was abiding her wishes, she is a bad mom? What if Shanon had sent her MOM home- does it make her a bad daughter? Doesn’t make sense. Just because Tara won every challenge, does not mean she automatically wins the grand prize. Helen looked great at 117 lbs. which is NOT anorexic- she just needs to get that skin removed from her arms- they kinda look like bat wings. Helen winning took by surprise to say the least, but she deserves it, just like Tara or Mike. Hats off to them!!!

  15. Denise says:

And, if you remember correctly, Helen’s daughter was too busy at home being arrested in December for throwing flour at her tenant, for being too loud. Yeah, she had no desire.

  16. badzt says:

Mike deserved to win, I never liked Shannon. I always thought she waS selfish and just a blah person. I was so sure that if Mike didnt win, Tara was gonna be the winner. I am glad they all lost all that weight, but I think Mike was the real winner for the show.

  17. Jenn says:

You know, there’s this little thing called ‘editing’ that TV creators use to manipulate audience’s opinions of players in reality TV shows. That said, you really can’t say anything conclusively about Helen or Tara or any of the other contestants, unless you personally know them in real life, which, I’m guessing, you don’t. In the end, Helen had the largest percentage of weight loss and so she won. Good for her.

  18. Sharon says:

I agree about it was not fair to Tara to not get her time in the limelight. They should just weigh in the last three, congratulate them and then announce the percentage and winner.

But what about Jerry the at home winner, looked like he had undergone 2 rounds of chemo prior to this.

It is fine that they won, but they just didn’t look healthy compared to most of the others.

  19. doug llewlyn says:

I wanted mike or tara to win. Its funny how some of you people are whining.

The game is all about weight percentage lost. Helen lost more than Tara at the finale. Deal with it you miserable sods

  20. elle says:

i was rooting for tara the whole way through because when it comes down to it, she proved her worth throughout the entire season. i thought either tara or mike had it for sure, but when i saw how skinny helen was on the finale i knew she was going to somehow squeak by. i say “squeak” because she really was an understated contestant who made it to the end. helen definitely deserved to win based on her percentage of total weight loss, but i don’t think she looked as healthy–not by a longshot–compared to mike and tara. jerry, on the other hand, was awesome. i think he totally deserved to win and did not look at all sickly. best wishes to all of them!

  21. joe cousy says:

I think that mike should have won because him and tara worked their hearts out and helen did noyhing so mike or tara should have won HELEN SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. Claudia Conrad says:

I am a 60 yr old grandmother of 15 w/ many of these in their teenage years. I watched the TBL w/ 3 of these. I was not like most individuals. I was not rooting for any one in particular. I am commenting because I am greatly concerned at what message the TBL show is now sending & the raction it has had on my grandchildren. After veiwing the finale of the show & the appearance of Helen the reaction was that they were overweight & must do something. These were girls that are over 5′ 3″ who do not even weigh 100 lbs and are still growing. Not only that but it backed the mentality “win at any cost & by any means”. I have been reading the comments & I would like to add that The reason I am not being overjoyed at Helen’s win is because she carried it to far & at the cost of her daughter. She along w/ the contestants always talked about those who NEEDED to stay on the ranch worse. Shannon, her own daughter, did need it worse than her & for more than one reason. Not only physically but mentally. Even Helen always talked about how “it took a while for it all to click in” You can see this was so from her own daughter & many of the other contestants that were sent home & did not fair real well there. It had not “clicked” w/ them. Many of you are saying that Shannon really did not want to be their as did Helen. To me this is all the more reason Helen should have wanted her daughter to have stayed so that hopefully it would “click”. Helen also could still have worked as hard as she did at home & won the at home prize of $100,000 while giving Shannon a shot at being “The Biggest Loser” as did Cathy & Ron did for their children. Also many have commented on how Helen did this to cushion her finacally since her husband was an auto worker & could lose his job. Have you not read, she gave up her job to be on the show & elected to not go back to work so she could exercise full time. Then after win the 1st thing out of her mouth was that she was going to have a BOOB job w/ the money & today has added that she has decided to have her tummy tucked & the lose skin removed & I believe this is not cheap! No, I’m afraid she is a very selfish person! We saw & heard this on the show w/ almost everything out of her mouth “I, I, I & ME, ME, Me & now are seeing it continue. I’m afraid she is no role model is truly “THE BIGGEST LOSER” all the way around!

  23. Monique says:

no way. helen did not deserve to win. she was all about the money, and is such a selfish mom. i can’t stand her. it was definatly between tara and mikey for me. but not helen, thats for sure.

  24. Sexecutioner says:

Like it or not Helen won fair and square. Granted, she’s definitely the most disliked grand prize winner in the program’s history. And until the producers modify the rules, she’s legit. Sending her daughter home TWICE didn’t win her a lot of public support. Her passive aggressive attitude didn’t help win the hearts of viewers either. But there is definitely something lacking when someone like Helen wins the way she did by floating under the radar. She’s perhaps the most unspectacular of all biggest loser prize winners. It’s like watching some so-so sub .500 wild card team win a championship. While we like watching underdogs achieve, we don’t like them being THAT so-so. Helen hardly inspires others to follow her suit.

  25. Gabe says:

,I think like last season a small person won and this season is the same Helen is smaller than Tara no matter how much Tara looses of wight she is still going to have more mass in her. LIke Vicky last season.
    TARA ROCKS!!!!!!!!

  26. Gabe says:

    You are so right Claudia

  27. Jessie says:

This biggest loser season finale’ was so confusing and sad. I am excited for everyone having lost the weight they did, it was a huge feat. But, yet I am left scratching my head with the winner. Helen obviously played the game and indeed did lose weight, but it is disconcerting when someone who appears to have an eating disorder is considered a winner of a weight loss competition. She appeared sick, and I dont find her weight loss encouraging at all!

It also saddened me to see Helen’s daughter and in what terrible shape she was in. Why didn’t mom focus on her daughter, care for her daughter and want the best for her daughter? She can certainly take a lesson from Ron, who would do anything for the health and prosperity of his son while trying to meet his own goals to be a healthier dad for his family as a whole.

Tara, Mike, Sione, Felipe, Kirsten, etc… any other person could of won with integrity intact. Their success was inspiring because they always desired for the success of one another. Whereas Helen appeared to be “all about me, with her hands on her hips like a plastic mannequin”

Hmmm… I hope next season is better, sadly this season is tarnished.

  28. Andrew Liu says:

I agreed with badzt that Mike deserved to win the title. I was rooting for him, but if he didn’t, I thought for sure it would be Tara. Both Mike and Tara looked really healthy in the season finale and applied 100% effort. On the other hand, Helen looked like she starved herself to get down to 117 in order to win the show, but didn’t look healthy at all. I agree wtih Cheyenne that Helen had clearly not done enough to help her daugher to get healthy.

  29. Cassie says:

Every season the winner is chosen by the largest percentage of weight loss. Why should it change this season?

  30. B says:

I just hope that Helen is healthy. For her height she is now TOO THIN. Can she maintain this? Should she?

    I wish her well.

  31. Jennifer says:

I think the contest prizes should change to eliminate the contestants who are just after the prize money. The prize money should be given out in yearly payments not lump sums. Also the method of allowing the contestants to vote off 1 of the 2 contestants below the yellow line should be changed. Either the person with the lowest weight loss is automatically eliminated or it is done by a coin toss. The voting is just a way for weaker contestants eliminate stronger contestants.
Lastly, Helen is a horrible representative for the Biggest Loser – all too ready to smoke, drink, overeat, and throw anyone under the bus. I suspect the public reception to her will be mostly negative. She is totally selfish and self-centered. She looks as if she is 58 not 48 and needs the help of the staff at TLC’s 10 Years Younger.

  32. kelly says:

I really don’t like Helen, but she won, because the rules say that whoever has the highest percentage of weight loss wins. What the rules should say is that you need to diet, exercise and do everything that you learned all the ranch to keep it.
I believe that Helen starved herself or did something else(not sure) unhealthy to loss more weight than anyone else. According to the rules she won, but she is not a role model nor does she deserve viewers respect.
I really wanted Mike to win, but I am glad that Mike and Tara did not comprise the healthy lifestyle in order to win the money. Both of them are losers(winners) in my book and I wish them the best of luck in keeping off the weight. Hopefully, what I said about Helen is not true, but if someone can put their own daughter above themselves then they might be capable of going to anything to win the money.
