According to Newsday.com, previous winner of American Idol Carrie Underwood, has recently visited Angola in Africa. The singer wanted to show American Idol viewers just how “American Idol Cares,” and how the peoples donations from Idol Gives Back are being used.
Underwood spoke of how thousands of kids die every day from malaria, yet a simple thing such as a mosquito net could save lives. Whilst she was out there, Carrie visited health centers and orphanages giving out bed nets and school supplies.
Viewers can see how the relief projects are helping out there and see how much is actually being done to help fight malaria. This was Carrie’s second trip to Africa to help out with the projects. Over the past couple of years the charity Idol Gives Back has raised over $140 million worldwide.
