Angels and Demons with Tom Hanks: How good was it?
After a spell away from playing Robert Langdon in The Da Vinci Code, Tom Hanks is back in a stellar performance in Angels and Demons. Ron Howard is also back behind the camera as the director, and I have to say that the two seem to work well together.

The Pope’s people did not make it easy for the film to be made, banning it from access to the Vatican. The movie had to be shot on a 20-acre set, and that certainly shows in the film, the trained eye will notice how tacky some of the scenery is.

Overall, though, I have to say that it is a fun and fast-paced movie. If I had to choose, I would say that Angels and Demons has the edge over the Da Vinci Code. The main difference with this movie is that it does not paint a bad picture of Jesus Christ as the first movie did.

The movie looks at the conflict between religion and modernity, and the movie seems to have sided with Catholicism. We just wish that they had allowed it to be filmed in the Vatican.
