Criminal Minds Season Finale 2009: behind the scenes
For those of you that have been following the CBS series “Criminal Minds” would know that it was the two hour season finale last night. And according to cbs4.com, it was a bit of a cliffhanger. Even the cast called the episode bizarre.

We saw in the final episode that BAU tracked down a serial killer that chooses prostitutes, junkies and homeless people off the streets of Detroit to become his victims. He then takes them across the border to a Canadian pig farm.

And of course the suspect, who is confined to a wheelchair, denies it all. We also saw an agent’s life was at stake. You can also take a look at a season finale, behind the scenes video below. What did you think of how the season ended?

It sounds to me that the show is wrapping up. Morgan expressed his doubts about what he does for aliving and it appears that Hodge was shot at point blank range.
I sounds like the show is ending. Perhaps we’ll see a spin-off.

  2. mandy says:

I don’t think the show is ending. I’m sure they have enough stories to last for another season or two. But I did hear that next year, the show had to undergo budget cuts. So, who knows?…

  3. Linda says:

If CBS was tyring for great finale’s…they did it!!!!! Crinimal Minds AND NCIS!!!!

  4. Linda says:

In an earlier Criminal Minds, a serial killer made a deal with an agent that he would stop killing if he would stop looking for him…. that agent died….Hotch was left with the decision and he didn’t deal.

  5. Angela says:

The show isn’t ending. It’s been renewed for another season. If they already planned for next season to be their last, they would have announced it when they renewed it.

I’d also find it extremely unrealistic if these characters didn’t occasionally express doubts in a job like this. And, while I would hate with epic hate if Hotch was written out, well, characters leaving a show is only a sure sign of the show ending if the show is named after the character -and even then, that’s not always a guarantee.

  6. Kellie says:

oh my god in 14 yrs old and i have an obsession with this show and i swear if this show ends for good i will kill my self (just kidding) but i honestly hope they continue this show. and the ending to the finale is CRAZYYY! and lets just hope Hodge is the one that was shooting cuz if not the show is screwd! ha well if you haven seent he finale you better cuz its amazing the cast did a great job this season(: keep upp the good workk guyss(:

  7. Trudy says:

The ending was a shock! I sure hope Hodge is not killed off! It wouldn’t be the same without him. The finale was on the verge of being too graphic for me, but it kept you on the edge as always. One of my favorite shows. Please don’t cancel it CBS!

  8. Andra says:

I certainly hope they are planning to bring it back for a few more seasons. I love Criminal Minds. I love all the actors and especially Hotch. The show is different every week.

  9. Terry says:

I think it is stupid that they would cut another leading character Hodge would be missed.

  10. Kady says:

Are we suppose to know who shot Hodges? I sort of got that feeling but I don’t remember anything leading up to that in previous episodes.

  11. Mike says:

Hodge is Dead!!!!! Sure he will be missed, but we don’t need him. Its Garcia we can’t live without.

  12. CMFan says:

Could someone explain who the masked man was?

  13. TSS says:

Yeah – the masked guy at the end was from the episode Omnivore

It’s when they go to boston to investigate a serial killer who had been dormant for 10 years (from one of Hotch’s first cases) and then who reappears – the killer in question had made a deal with the lead detective at the time – he would stop killing if the detective would stop looking – when said detective died, the killings began again.

when hotch and the team went to investigate the murders, the killer made hotch the same deal – stop looking, and i’ll stop killing – hotch didn’t take the deal.

finally, they apprehended the guy, but he broke out of prison – i’m pretty certain it’s him…

    KILLER finale though!

  14. CMrocks says:

I think the masked shooter was that one criminal that escaped from the prison in that one episode – the one who had maps of the whole prison and had years to plan his escape and made himself puke blood to get out of his jail cell.

On another note – I am Canadian and I can’t help noticing similarities of this final case to the real-life case of that British Columbia pig farm a year or two ago. I’m quite sure that the American crime shows fairly frequently borrow ideas from Canadian crimes (I believe there’s one episode of Criminal Minds that’s very similar to the Homolka Bernardo case for example), but I wonder if enough time has really passed between the real tragedy in BC and seeing it appear in television shows… thoughts anyone?

  15. patty says:

How do I get to watch the finale our tv station was off

  16. mf says:

For all you Criminal Minds fans, his name is Hotch(Short for Hotchner)not Hodge and he is the best character on the show
Hope they keep on being brilliant.Best show on TV

  17. mf says:

I know who was in Hotch’s place in the season 4 finale. The key to who it is lies in the title of an earlier Episode in Season 4.The title of the episode is used in the finale at one point for all of you “couch detectives”.Also remember what the masked man said to Hotch
    Good Luck

  18. CMFan1 says:

It was hard enough to get used to Gidion being gone, but Hotch – NO WAY! Finale was awesome, the cast always delivers with excellence. I’m still believing Hotch shot the masked guy – it’ll make me sleep better until next season. They surely can’t end the series…let’s hope there’s renewal for at least a few more seasons.

  19. Paul says:

The masked man was the Boston Reaper, a serial killer from episode 18 “Omnivore” this season. He told Hotch that he would stop killing if theywould stop hunting him, to which Hotch declined.

  20. Empress says:

The end sure was a cliffhanger, but who the hell was the masked man? I hope CBS is not going to cancel now or leave us wondering for too long. I am sure that Hotch is not dead – guy was probably firing blanks (I hope). Love you Hotch!!!!

  21. SpencersGurl says:

The guy in the mask is George Boyet from an earlier Season 4 episode – Omnivore. The BAU team caught him, but he escaped from jail just after the team returned to DC.

  22. ijoyl says:

Our cable station began emitting a high frequency tone during the last 15-or-so minutes. Video was available, but all dialog was lost. It returned to normal about the time Hotch returned home. Missed everything that was said from the discovery of Lucas and Kelly on. DANG! I hate it when that happens.

  23. Carol says:

Please do not have Hotch die. I think he is the best actor on the show and I know I would stop watching it if he is no longer on the show.

    Carol

  24. Frederick says:

Hi CMrocks I’m a fellow Canadian living here in the UK and the finale was definately based on the tragedy that went on in British Columbia… there was just too many similarities to the news story. AND… just want to say – Hotch can’t die yet – he’s a big part of what makes it a great show… I’m also glad they finally figured out that they had to include Garcia more in each episode… Fingers Crossed for another season ! Cheers! Fred :)

  25. Jade says:

his name is HOTCH not HODGE.

but they mentioned my city in this episode :’)
    which is totally small. <3

  26. Anna says:

THANK YOU to the few people who spelt Hotch right! Its short for Hotchner just so the people who wrote Hodge know. If Hotch dies, I will cry like a little girl.

  27. audra says:

I just love this show. I was so bummed when the season finale was over, thinking Hotch was possibly dead, but can’t wait for 9/23 for the season premier..it’s a great show…keeps me entertained and waiting for more each week. Thanks CBS!!

  28. ReidLover says:

I too, live in BC, and definitely agree it was based on the story that happened in BC. I am glad that the BAU characters made a point of acknowledging that though the victims in this case had taken what most would consider poor paths in life, or suffered as a consequence of poor choice, they were still human. Nobody deserves to suffer horrific death the victims did. I went to school with one of the girls that was victim of the true case, too bad it took this to make, some realize that though a good portion of the population considers people “scum” amongst other unpleasant names, they were someones daughters, mothers, sisters, etc…. R.I.P. girls, you will never be forgotten!

  29. ReidLover says:

Oh, and by the way, they do indeed show “Hotch” actually speaking to the “unsub”, so he’s not already dead like they wanted us to fret about….

  30. Criminds says:

Anna – spelt? Really? And you’re worried how people spell Hotch?

  31. LaVerite says:

Criminds….what’s wrong with spelt? U r the one who needs to check ur grammar.

  32. Azzaro says:

O M G spelt and bad grammar who cares!!!!! The real question is what the he– happened to Hotchner. He is the best along with the rest of the team. there are not to many really good shows on to keep peoples attention. I’m sick of watching old movies.
