Danny Gokey and Lionel Richie on American Idol 2009

Danny Gokey and Lionel Richie on American Idol 2009
We saw another performance from previous “American Idol” contestant Danny Gokey on the finale show last night. He came on stage to sing Lionel Richie’s “Hello.” And according to newsday.com, it was a rather cheesy version.

Danny Gokey and Lionel Richie on American Idol 2009

David Cook sang the song in “American Idol” last season and redefined the song. But Danny’s version was described as nothing interesting about it and the vocals weren’t that strong. Then we saw Lionel Richie himself come out.

The singer then joined Danny Gokey on stage and they started to sing together. Danny then does some sort of awful dancing and Lionel sang as great as he always does. The thing is, Danny has got a good voice and it has been said that he could do better.

  • Danny Fan!

Danny was great, I’d like to see newsday.com editor go on American Idol and sing. Ha yeah keep your mouth shut on singing and talking crap.

    danny was awesome last night

  • you make me sick

So,another shit Brit talking trash about something you didn’t even see for youself? Or are you on Simon Cowell’s and Simon Fuller’s payroll, too?

Danny was AMAZING, btw. He and Ritchie were the BEST of the night. He showed the world what a great artist he is. Thin-voiced garage band Kris and Glamboy Screecher just can’t compare to the gorgeous husky, masculine tones in Danny’s voice. He is destined for much better things than being disparaged by some anonymous fool like you who is too cowardly to even post his/her own name!

I think Danny’s career will be whatever he wants it to be. He is a smart guy, and throughout the season he studied, took risks, and in the end came to know who he is as a man and artist. Tall order.

Danny’s version of Hello is fantastic. It is at par with the original version. He spoke to my heart when he sings.

Stop this thrashing! I bet the guy from newsday.com is tone deaf and blinded with hate.

Danny should have been the American Idol!

Sounds like an Adam fan. Danny and Lionel were my favorite spot of the night. Their voices blend beautifully together.

I love the richness and sexy quality of Danny’s voice, and can’t wait for his first cd. He is sooo easy on the ears, (unlike Adam), and he gave me chills when he sang You Are So Beautiful. He is my idol for sure.

I LOVED it! It’s the only performance I watched more than once. Some of you in the media need to jump off the “I Hate Danny” bandwagon. It’s getting old!

dannys voice is very unique and his talent should put him in the finale, but of course some tweens couldnt see the difference between excellent voice and they have been blinded by good face and twitching neck…goodluck for that and AI, the show is getting fishy as they proclaimed the idol via money hoarding text votes rather than crowning the best of the best!!!we luv yah danny!!!

I’m from Long Island New York, and if anyone should know what cheesey means, it would be the Newsday. One of the cheesiest publications in New York. Not one reported has the skills to make it on the New York Times, what the heck do you want them to know about good music? Go back to reporting the ‘nothing of interest’ news of the day, whoever you are.
