Television host Jay Leno has been doing the “Tonight Show” for many years. But it took a radio DJ to remind him just where he’ll stand in the “Tonight Show” history, when he walks off the stage for the last time on Friday.

According to Associated Press, Jay would have done an impressive 17 years as the show’s host. But that is not nearly as much as Johnny Carson, who was host for three decades that ended when he retired in May 1992.

Jay Leno then debuted as the “Tonight Show” host a few days later. He said that he will miss the show but he is moving on to a new daily prime-time show for NBC this fall. Jay will be continuing with his stand-up appearances this summer.
