It was the 2010 World Cup qualifying match last night and according to latimes.com, it was Costa Rica that took a 3-1 victory over the U.S. with two early goals. The match was played at Ricardo Saprissa Stadium in the Costa Rican capital San Jose.
Costa Rica apparently scored after only 83 seconds of the match and was then ahead by two goals before the U.S. team had even taken a shot. It seemed as though the American defense was abysmal and the midfield were just overrun all night.
And the U.S. forward line of Clint Dempsey, Landon Donovan and Jozy Altidore seemed non-existent. It was described as bad soccer. Costa Rica has now gone into first place in the final, six-nation qualifying group with a 3-1-0 record and nine points.
