Former NBA star and Buffalo State’s all-time athletic hero Randy Smith has just died at the age of 60. According to buffalonews.com, Smith apparently suffered a heart attack and died unexpectedly in Connecticut yesterday.
Smith was one of the most popular players in the whole of Buffalo Braves history. One of Randy’s teammates at college Dick Bihr said “It’s hard to believe that a guy who was such a special athlete could pass away like that.”
Randy was made Most Valuable Player in 1978 and also started the Randy Smith League youth baseball program. He will be sadly missed by friends, family and fans and leaves behind wife Angela, daughter Terran and his two sons Brandon and Dominique.
