The 2009 U.S. Golf Open will be starting soon and this year it is being held at New York’s Bethpage Black course. And according to sfgate.com, there will be some major names going through the 13 sectional qualifiers including John Daly, who is trying to jump-start his comeback.
Other major champions such as Tom Lehman, Jose Maria Olazabal and David Duval are also hoping to qualify. Spencer Levin, who won the California State Amateur in 2004, will be appearing with his father Don Levin, who qualified for the Open in 1983.
The sectionals apparently last for 36 holes and can expose even the smallest of flaws in any player’s game. There have only ever been six father and son tandems that have played in the same Open in its history. Two time Open champion Lee Janzen will also try to qualify.
