The three teenage boys, who actually rotate in the title role of Billy Elliot in the musical all jointly won the award, then all three went up onto the stage to accept it. Kiril Kulish, Trent Kowalik and David Alvarez all looked kind of bashful as they accepted the award.

Despite the recession, “Billy Elliot, The Musical” made more than $1 million a week in the 2008-2009 Broadway season. The other awards that “Billy Elliot” won include best choreography, best lighting design, best scenic design and best sound design.
