It was the 11th Annual Uncommon Height Awards gala recently that was held in Washington DC. And according to examiner.com, famous chat show host Oprah Winfrey attended the event. And what’s more, is she was honored by the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW).
Oprah received an Uncommon Height Award which is there to recognize people “who have the ability to extend far above and beyond oneself to achieve greatness and who demonstrates a lifetime of service and achievement as exemplified by the spirit and tradition of Dr. Dorothy Irene Height.”
And apparently it was Dr. Height that presented the award to Oprah. There were over 2000 people that attended the gala at the Grand Ballroom at the Washington Hilton. Some other attendees included actress Cicely Tyson and author Maya Angelou.
