Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan

Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan
You should have all heard of tribute bands that like to mimic their favorite music stars, like Madonna or even Robbie Williams, but it seems as though now we may have a tribute in the sports world. That is how Lakers player Kobe Bryant has been described as anyway.

Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan

According to chicagotribune.com, he could be classed as an imitation of Michael Jordon, who played for Chicago Bulls professional team. Although when Bryant retires, he will be classed as one of five of the best players in NBA history.

Bryant has made his own way in the basketball world, but could well be described as playing very much like Michael Jordan did. It was said that everything Bryant does looks familiar as if we’ve seen it before. What are your opinions, do you think he is very much like Michael Jordan?

They may have similiar scoring records or style of playing ball BUT, Kobe will NEVER be like Michael Jordan because of his attitude.

Yes, Kobe imitates MJ, even down to the way he talks to reporters. However, what separates his game style is his ability to pull up for 3-point jumpers in the faces of his opponents and still make them at a high percentage (for 3-pointers). MJ developed a 3-point shot, but only for use when defenders backed off for fear of his driving to the basket. What makes MJ better is all 6 of his championships came from him as THE MAIN PLAYER, whereas Kobe’s first three came with Shaq being THE MAIN PLAYER. Also, Kobe’s most recent championship series was much easier than MJ’s ever was, because of the lack of competition. Orlando was a weak matchup. Had Garnett been healthy and they had beaten the Celtics, that would have been a greater achievement, equal to the Bulls beating Portland or Utah. Now, Kobe has to prove that he can win as THE MAIN PLAYER against a tough opponent. The previous season, he could not. In fact, he wilted under the double teams like MJ never did in the NBA Finals. Kobe almost disappeared under the Celtics’ double teams!
