USA vs Italy 2009 Soccer: Results

The USA soccer team had hoped to take the fight to Italy in the 2009 Confederations Cup, but it was not to be for the United States team as they lost to Italy 3-1. Giuseppe Rossi scored two goals with Daniele De Rossi scoring one. This result was a blow to the U.S. team who were down to ten men.

The first half was not the best start for Italy, but they certainly made up for that in the second half and have answered critics after their narrow 4-3 win over New Zealand last week. Italy could have controlled the game from the first 20 minutes, but they seemed to take their time to get into the match.

Sports features Communications reports that the World Cup holders seemed to lose concentration, which is when the US team tried to capitalize on that and put a few past Italy’s defense, but their goalkeeper it had covered.
