We are all currently going through a tough economic time, with many major cities around America including Los Angeles, losing money by the millions. But it doesn’t seem to be stopping NBA champions, the Los Angeles Lakers from throwing their victory parade.
According to nesn.com, the L.A Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa commented at a news conference and said “We intend to everything we can to minimize the cost to the city.” Apparently private donors are giving in close to $850,000 to help towards the celebrations.
The Lakers and AEG, who own the Staples Center, are also kicking in another $1 million towards production costs. Despite the fact that last time there was a Lakers celebration, there was havoc, the mayor says the city will come together and he will take responsibility.
