FIFA Confederations Cup Standings: South Africa 2009

Many soccer fans will know that it is currently the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009, which occurs every four years and is currently being held in the host country South Africa. The Confederations Cup is said to be a dress rehearsal for the World Cup.

A fair few games have been played now and there have been some great results and some pretty poor results. Sunday 14th June saw South Africa against Iraq at the Ellis Park in Johannesburg and the score was 0-0. You can see more results and view highlights via fifa.com.

The group A standings are as follows, Spain have played 3 matches and won 3 and have an overall 9 points, South Africa have played 3 matches, won 1, lost 1 and drew 1 with an overall of 4 points, Iraq have drew 2 and lost 1 and New Zealand have lost 2 and drew on 1.

Group B standings are, Brazil won 3 out of 3 games with an overall score of 9 points, USA have won 1 match and lost 2 with an overall of 3 points, Italy have won 1 match and lost 2 with an overall of 3 points and Egypt has lost 2 matches and won 1 with an overall of 3 points.
