Wimbledon 2009: Roger Federer’s first-round win

The tennis world has just seen the start of Wimbledon 2009 and it looks as though things are already looking good for Swiss star Roger Federer. He opened the Center Court proceedings in the absence of injured player and defending champion Rafael Nadal.

And according to bbc.co.uk, it was a great match that ended up with Roger Federer taking victory over Yen-Hsun Lu with a straight-sets first round. Roger, who is the world number two player, came through with a final score of 7-5, 6-3 and 6-2 in 1 hour and 44 minutes.

Federer, who is now trying to win a record fifteenth Grand Slam title, will be playing Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in round 2. Roger had said that he felt in good shape for his first round and he feels as though it was a good solid performance that he gave.
