Tennis ace Andy Murray, has taken another step towards his goal of his first grand slam title, when he defeated Latvia’s Ernests Gulbis at Wimbledon today. According to independent.co.uk, he got a second round victory over Gulbis with comfortable 6-2, 7-5 and 6-3 straight sets.
Many British tennis fans will be celebrating now as the Scottish player, who is now 22, advances to the next round of the Wimbledon 2009 tournament. Murray is apparently aiming to become the first British men’s winner since Fred Perry did back in 1936.

The Centre Court crowds were delighted, when Murray sealed his victory with a forehand crosscourt winner, after one hour and twenty-eight minutes of play. He will now face either Spain’s Daniel Gimeno Traver or Serbia’s Viktor Troicki for a place in the fourth round.
