You may remember some time ago Lisa Marie Presley and the king of pop Michael Jackson were married. Following Michael Jackson’s shock death Lisa-Marie Presley took to her MySpace blog and is reported to have said a few things here most predominantly that years ago he told her that he was going to go out young, probably in a drug overdose.

How true do you think this is?

This is a snippet of the blog supposedly written by Lisa-Marie Presley
“Years ago Michael and I were having a deep conversation about life in general.
I can’t recall the exact subject matter but he may have been questioning me about the circumstances of my Father’s Death”.

I am a 53 year old fan of Michael, and a member of the Australian Armed Forces via the British Army. Over the years, I have watched him as an adolescent, and then adult, metamorphosis into the adult superstar that he became over the 60’s 70’s and 80’s.

Michael died yesterday 25 June 09, and I watched, horrified, as in his death, he became another Elvis Presely; immortalized by his fans, and exploited by those who believe they may benefit by his death.

My sons, who were born in the early 80’s tried to buy an album to commemorate his death, but were unable to do so, because the world decided that they all needed to do the same at the same time.

Within hours of Michaels death, albums that retailed at $30 became unavailable for less than $90 dollars. It is ironic that, given the controversy of his life, many of the fans and doubters are now happy to pay 3 times the going rate for his work.

If I were to chart out Michaels life, I would emphasize not only his humanity, but his focus on the children of the world and his fight to make life better for them.

Given the controversy of his life, is it not ironic that so many people have contrived to immortalize him at the time of his death.

Im watching Vh, top 30 Michael Jackson, Number 25, “Will you be there”, I’m listening to the lyrics, as I listen to the lyrics of other such songs from Albums such as History and, realise that his latter life was devoted to turning public opinion to the plight of the world and how we, as a population, might make the word “A better place”. As a veteran of the Falklands, Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Afghanistan and Solomon Islands I can verify his anxiety with regards to the lives of children around the world.
I am not a religious man, because of my close association with protestant and catholic religion, through my early life with a catholic mother and protestant father in Scotland. I learned early in life that both religions lived in direct conflict; having to pretend that I followed the catholic religion as a juvenile to protect the catholic family and as a protestant to live my normal day to day life in Presbyterian Scotland.

I also relate to Muslim life, just as surely brainwashed as Catholicism, and just as sure in the existence of a just an holy God as any other religions.

Nevertheless, whether Michael was motivated by religion, or more believably by the injustice of religions and wars motivated by religion, I honestly believe he had the basic welfare of children and humanity as the very basis of his life.

I’m now listening to the Lyrics of “you are not alone” and I would like to believe that I am not alone in believing we can make the world a better place. A place where individuals can really be individuals in their own right, whether through creed, colour or sexuality, and where people will, in the first instance, consider humility, consideration for others and turning the other cheek embrace diversity; a lesson we all need to learn. After all, people are, people no matter how they have been educated and no matte how they have been indoctrinated, people. Let us recognize those who live for other than the greater good, and extracise them for what they are.

Michael has devoted his adult life to a crusade that has focused many of his fans lives towards a better life for our children and their children.

I’m listening to Earth Song now, and listening to “Did you ever stop to notice”. Wars are unforgiving of young lives. The Falklands, the Balkans, Northern Ireland, The Gulf, Kosovo, Former Yugoslavia, in my life, and in my sphere of infulence, have been heavy handed towards young influential life, and have an enduring psychological influence on those directly affected by War, as well as the post traumatic stress inflicted on those who have witnessed the atrocities of war.

I can only stress that the legacy of Michael Jackson will continue to gain momentum through his fans and like minded humanitarians who see that the Rhetoric of various so called Religious Sects, and Religion in general are not the whole answer. Religion alone, only serves to exacerbate the existence of war, and the inhumanity that man inflicts on man.

The Scottish poet Robert Burns wrote in the late 1700’s that ” A man’s a Man for a’ that, and Nae Man can tether time nor tide’ stating unequivocally that we are human, we are all the same, and that given the opportunity we may all rise the same heights as each other. Continuing to believe that all men are equal, but some are more equal than others, it is perhaps poignant that if all children were indoctrinated in the same way, to believe only in humanity, that he world would, indeed, be a better place.

Why do we always seem to need to wait for the death of a visionary to become “more aware” of the almost unavoidable awareness that surrounds us?

The passing of Michael only serves to bring together those who trully believe in his vision. I am not sure, however, that his vision is enough.

Even if Michael were a new world “Christ, Mohamed, Buddha or whatever,” it is unlikely that the world or religious leaders would allow his Rhetoric to become predominantly amongst us, unless it benefitted them.

For those who are truly religious, and who read this Blog, I do not seek to single you out individually, nor do I seek to focus on individual religions, but I would ask that you question your clerics, priests, and those who preach, seeking clarification about what your religion, to clarify what your religion really means; not what subversives would have you believe.

I leave you with the lyrics of what is perhaps the most focused of all michael’s songs towards bringing the world together:

There’s a place in your heart
And I know that it is love
And this place could be much
    Brighter than tomorrow.
    And if you really try
You’ll find there’s no need to cry
    In this place you’ll feel
    There’s no hurt or sorrow.
There are ways to get there
If you care enough for the living
Make a little space, make a better place.

    Heal the world
    Make it a better place
For you and for me and the entire human race
    There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
    Make a better place for
    You and for me.

If you want to know why
There’s a love that cannot lie
    Love is strong
It only cares for joyful giving.
If we try we shall see
In this bliss we cannot feel
    Fear or dread
We stop existing and start living
    Then it feels that always
    Love’s enough for us growing
Make a better world, make a better world.

    Heal the world
    Make it a better place
For you and for me and the entire human race.
    There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
    Make a better place for
    You and for me.

And the dream we would conceived in
    Will reveal a joyful face
And the world we once believed in
    Will shine again in grace
Then why do we keep strangling life
Wound this earth, crucify it’s soul
Though it’s plain to see, this world is heavenly
    Be God’s glow.

    We could fly so high
    Let our spirits never die
    In my heart I feel
    You are all my brothers
Create a world with no fear
    Together we’ll cry happy tears
    See the nations turn
    Their swords into plowshares
    We could really get there
If you cared enough for the living
Make a little space to make a better place.

    Heal the world
    Make it a better place
For you and for me and the entire human race
    There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
    Make a better place for
    You and for me.

There are people dying if you care enough for the living
Make a better place for you and for me.
There are people dying if you care enough for the living
Make a better place for you and for me.

You and for me / Make a better place
You and for me / Make a better place
You and for me / Make a better place
You and for me / Heal the world we live in
You and for me / Save it for our children
You and for me / Heal the world we live in
You and for me / Save it for our children
You and for me / Heal the world we live in
You and for me / Save it for our children
You and for me / Heal the world we live in
You and for me / Save it for our children

If there is a god, let him Bless you all. if not, bless yourselves and strive for a better tomorrow.

Please accept this blog from a Soldier of almost 40 years, and accept that I am not being subversive; rather I am being a realist and the only way to change the world is to accept that we are all equal and war is not the way.

    Sincere regards

Oh my goodness Jock, what is wrong with you. You did get one thing right: he focused on children. Way too much. If any other man were a child molester, he would go down. But not Michael. Apparently the only thing he was great at, was being above the law. Sure he had some good tunes, and he could dance a bit, but who cares. Seriously, he did it with little boys. Get a grip on reality and get things into perspective. He was a child molester!

  3. Boki says:

    Well it’s to late now… True or not, it’s a great commercial…

He was exploited all his life, rest in peace music genius.

  4. Lori says:

You might wanna try drugs and a lot of them. M/J was the scum of the earth & I thank God everyday for taking him, because now the children he would have abused are safe. Anyone who would have a relationship with this man is no better than he was. You make me want to vomit. May God be as good to you, as He was to Michael.

  5. Tony says:

Michael Jackson is the ‘one and only’ of music and dancing for my generation – the70’s and 80’s.

My favourite decade is the 80’s – for me was magic, a whole lot of magic!!! Be at peace Michael.

The hate that people have towards Michael Jackson is disgusting– to be thankful for the death of a man that was never found guilty. And to wish death on another person who appreciates the good that he brought to the world. “May God be as good to you as he was to Michael”… It appears that you are the one who needs to find God and needs to find compassion. Compassion was something Michael never lacked. His tribute to Ryan White in his song “Gone Too Soon” is a just a glimmer of the beauty of his heart.

  7. GBrowning says:

Ida & Lori, you guys are ridiculous. If you haven’t got anything good to say about Michael just don’t say anything at all. You are so disgusting! He was never a child molester you stupid heartless idiots! Just let him rest in peace!

  8. Maxine says:

Shame on those who are so bigotted and ignorant to think ill of such a beautiful soul. Jock has explained it all so perfectly and I agree totally with every word Jock has written on here.
Apart from being a musical genuis and lyricist, he was a deeply caring and INNOCENT human being with a phenominal heart and spirit. Well now his spirit is soaring in a place far better than here on earth with the ignornance which surrounded him and the money grabbing idiots. Michael Jackson is and always will be an amazing, special and unique person. You only have to listen to his lysrics to know what kind of heart he had. The ‘powers that be’ thought enough was enough and have taken him to a better place away from the hell he had to endure here – for being the kind of person what people couuld only dream of being. Rest in peace Michael.
