Janet Jackson honors Michael at BET Awards 2009

Michael Jackson’s sister Janet, took to the stage last night at the BET Awards in Los Angeles and spoke out about the death of her brother, only three days after the announcement that Michael had tragically died after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Janet had to take a bit of time to gather herself before she spoke out to the audience. She said that the entire family wanted to be there but it was far too painful for them, so she was speaking out on their behalf. Janet then thanked everyone for all their love and support.

According to rollingstone.com, after promising the audience that she would keep her speech short, Janet went on to say that Michael will live forever in all of hearts and that they miss him so much. The whole night was filled with tributes to the King of Pop.

    It is still hard for me to believe that Michael is gone….it didn’t hit me until tonight…when I saw Janet come out on that stage and speak on behalf of her family. I held it together through all the news, the tributes from every video channel, and internet news. But, when I saw Janet….and the pain in her eyes….that is when I lost it….I mourned for Michael. I have been in denial since Thursday….wishing that it was all a nightmare and I will wake up from it all….but when I saw Janet…I realized that it is real! I prayed for him all the time…that the world would see him as just another human being that wants to be loved. Who worked hard to get where he is, and now it’s his turn to play. Michael’s spirit and music will live with me forever. I love you Michael Joseph Jackson!

    Jackson’s my family can’t stop crying. We have children named after your family! Michael was a angel that I pray I get to see again. Thanks for giving him to the world. We so much will miss him for now. God Bless
