As we mentioned in an earlier post, the Academy Award-winning actor Karl Malden, sadly passed away at the age of 97 at his Los Angeles home on Wednesday. He was best known for playing Lt. Mike Stone in the 1970’s TV series “The Streets of San Francisco.”
According to sfgate.com, Karl, who made his Broadway debut back in 1937, dedicated over six decades to his acting career and appeared in many films within that time. He was born to a Serbian father and a Czech mother on March 22nd 1912 in Chicago.

Malden was also well known for being the pitchman of American Express credit cards for 21 years. Movies that he has starred in include “Birdman of Alcatraz,” “Dead Ringer” and “Fatal Vision.” He once won an Oscar for his role as Mitch in “A Streetcar Named Desire.”
