Was OK Magazine right to put Michael Jackson on front cover?

Since the death of the pop legend Michael Jackson, there has not been a day when stories about him have not been in the media, but often things can go too far. We reported in an earlier post, that OK magazine had printed a photo of the dead body of Jackson on the front cover.

It was also reported that OK Magazine had paid $500,000 for the image. The cover read “Michael Jackson World Exclusive, The last Photos”. They then had the headline “Michael’s Tragic Death”. Now I understand that fans would want to read more about the life about Michael Jackson, but publishing these images is one-step too far.

Was OK Magazine right to put Michael Jackson on front cover?

The ones that we have to feel for most is his three children, what would they think if they were to get hold of a copy of OK Magazine. As you would imagine, Jackson’s family and friends are outraged by the front cover. There is now a petition for the sale of the magazine to be stopped.

It\’s absolutely disgraceful to the human race. Does the owner of OK! Magazine have a soul? The petition is here http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/HelpMichaelJackson/

if anyone wants to sign. That photo is being taken down, I\’m telling you right now.

    Hey,

This is crap… These kinds of images are posted in magazines all the time, and although they are obviously not good, why don’t we petition the other stuff?

The truth is Michael Jackson had some good music but at the end of the day he was still a man with an evil past. I don’t wish death on anybody, but people need to stop being so worried about the guy, noone was there to protect the little children…

Trying to profit from michaels deat is shamefull. Would you like us to post a picture like this of one of your family members??? You make me sick . Let him rest in peace. What a sight for family and his children to see. You haunted him when he was alive and your goint to continue into his death. Have you no shame you will have you judgment day . Anyone treying to profit off his death tabloids, magizines, private individuals, his FATHER should all ba ashamed. He gave to so many never asking anything in return and this is the thanks he gets. You are a disgrace to America

There is nothing wrong with OK using his pictures. Pictures are what grabs your eye, so you will read the entire story. Heck, every one in the news has their picture displayed….so now ALL pictures must not be published?? Magazines, news papers and TV would sure be boring. I didn’t read the story, which is where the big issue to me would lie. I would want to make sure they only published the truth, and not some made up fictorious story. I think all they did was pay tribute.

Lets not forget who he was in later years, a pedifile, who got off the hook with fame and money..no question. I listened to MJ when he was with the Jackson-5….I don’t like pop music, but nevertheless, he was an amazing entertainer..RIP MJ

I didn;t read carefully enough before I posted above. I see now what the complaint is about, the corpse picture. But now that I think about it, the news is now showing where MJ was trying to get revived, which from what I have heard, he was basically gone at that point any way. Far as OK goes, YES they could have posted their story and tribute with another photo of MJ…but face it, with the economy as it is now, everyone will do any thing these days that will get their ratings up, and bring money in. If OK had not done this, another magazine probably would have, or will still do.
