Ron Artest Signs with Lakers: Staples Center new home

There have been reports recently, that the Houston Rockets fearsome defender Ron Artest, is said to be joining the Los Angeles Lakers according to nytimes.com. Apparently the deal is being signed on Wednesday but the doors have been left open for the terms to be adjusted before then.

Ron will now get the chance to play for an All-Star team with the likes of Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol and have the benefits of Hall of Fame coach Phil Jackson. It was reported that the Lakers have supposedly agreed to give Ron roughly $33 million over five years, but with an opt-out after the fourth.

Ron’s agent David Bauman released a statement in which Ron said that he was very excited about becoming a Laker. This looks like great news for the Lakers now as both Bryant and Artest are great defenders and good scorers, who can both average 20 points per game.
