Wimbledon 2009: Serena Williams Wins Women’s Final

Thousands of tennis fans were basking in the sun on Centre Court today, to watch the women’s singles final match between sisters Venus and Serena Williams. And it certainly looked like Serena really had the desire to win.

Although both Venus, who had her knee strapped up throughout the game and Serena showed commitment to the game, it was Serena that gained the upper hand. She finally beat her sister Venus with 7-6 and 6-2 sets.

According to guardian.co.uk, Venus and Serena’s father Richard, had spoken out previously and said that Venus’ knee had been playing up, but Venus claimed that wasn’t an excuse and said “Serena was just so good.”
