The Ashes 2009: Kevin Pietersen on England vs Australia

It was the first day of The Ashes 2009 yesterday with England battling it out with Australia in Cardiff. England’s player Kevin Pietersen, who scored 69 of their 336-7 against the Australians, took time out after the match, to talk about how it went.

According to bbc.co.uk, Pietersen defended his dismissal that apparently happened when he tried to sweep a ball from Australia’s Nathan Hauritz, which was reportedly well wide of off-stump. He said that he had to praise Hauritz, as he had bowled well.

Kevin claims that England are now targeting a total of around 400 when they resume innings on Thursday. He said “we’ll work towards 350, then 360, work up in 10’s and see how close we can get to 400.” He also praised wicketkeeper Matt Prior, who apparently blasted 56 from 62 balls.
