At the end of what seemed like an agonizing semi-final game in the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup, it was Mexico that beat Costa Rica 1-1 and won through penalties. They now advance to the final in New York on Sunday, where they will take on the US.
According to mexico.worldcupblog.org, Costa Rica didn’t waste any time in attacking the Mexican goal in the opening minute. Herron apparently got very close to scoring, but Efrain Juarez slid across the goal and stopped the ball from going in.

Mexico then scored a goal in the 88th minute to put the score at 1-0. But soon after, Costa Rica hit back and scored a goal to equalize. It then came down to penalties and Mexico took the first shot and scored. Mexico scored 5 penalties and Costa Rica only scored 3.
