Despite the fact that she is facing questions about her gender, South African teenager Caster Semenya, went on to win the 800-meter gold medal yesterday, at the World Track and Field Championships. According to sfgate.com, her time was a world-leading 1 minute and 55.45 seconds.
Her win came on the same day that track and field’s ruling body, announced that Caster was undergoing a gender test, because of some concerns that she does not meet the requirements to compete as a woman. The test was originally meant to be carried out about three weeks ago.

It has been Semenya’s dramatic improvement, deep voice and muscular build that have sparked the speculation about her gender. But despite all the speculation, Caster opened a commanding lead in the last 400 meters of the race to win by 2.45 seconds. Janeth Jepkosegi came second.
