Jake Arnold from Santa Rosa was not on form yesterday, he finished the day at the IAAF World Track and Field Championships in 27th place. This is very poor when you consider that there are only 34 men competing in the event in Berlin.
Arnold finished the first day with just 3,960 points; his personal best for a first day is 4,171. Ukrainian Oleksiy Kasyanov finished the first day in first place with 4,555 points, with Trey Hardee from America third and Ashton Eaton fifth, also American.
PressDemocrat reports that Arnold finished the 100 meters in 11.01; this was a personal best for him. He did not do so well with his long jump; he landed 22 feet and 1 inch, nine inches short of his personal best.
He did not do well in the shot put either, he posted 45-10, this was over three feet of his best throw. Jake Arnold now has a lot of work to do in order to climb up the scoreboard; one thing is certain he will not win form back there.
